In augustus 1939 verhuist de familie C. van Herwijnen naar de nieuw gebouwde 2 onder 1 kap woning aan de achterliggende nieuw aangelegde Kilwijkstraat. De woning zal in 1e instantie het huisnummer 7 krijgen omdat er vanuit de Kilwijkhof domweg werd doorgenummerd. Pas in september 1955 werd het huisnummer vernieuwd naar 1. In augustus 1942 werd de woning door de Duitsers gevorderd. Een kruis op het dak moest het idee geven dat het een lazaret betrof, maar er woonden een aantal Duitse officieren. Eind september 1945 keerde de familie Herwijnen weer terug in hun woning aan de Kilwijkstraat.
